Melissa teaching Luke how to eat a strawberry popsicle.
Chef and product developer for Coconut Bliss, Melissa Williams visited room 22 for the second year in a row on Thursday. She talked about playing basketball and rugby in college, playing ultimate w/ me and what it takes to be a chef in today's restaurant world.
To the student's delight, Melissa brought in samples of five different flavors of Coconut Bliss for the class to sample. After the ice cream many of the students said, "this was the best visitor of the year." Thanks Melissa!! News Report by Lynnsie On March 15th, 2013 room 22 and the other fifth graders went to a steelhead hatchery on Letz Creek just outside of the town of Lorane. My group got to see steelhead fish have eggs and...on the gross side got to see male steelhead produce "milt. The entire fifth grade took two buses and we arrived around 10:00AM. We left around 11:30 AM. A man named "Doogie" was our guide. Some kids in our class took a couple of eggs off of the ground and ate them. We saw the "circulars" and the hatchery pond that had something like 40,000 baby fish in it. We saw the people take the steelhead out of the river to remove the eggs and milt. It was sunny and beautiful. The best part was when we were going to the hatchery, we had to go up a mountain and then down the other side. Creswell Mayor David Stram visited Room 22 yesterday. Mayor Stram talked about, "how sometimes life doesn't turn out to be exactly like you think, but that it can still be really really good."
After Mr. Stram talked with the class and answered questions he played several songs on the piano. The class was amazed at his skills on the keys. Thanks Mayor Stram Friday (Yes, this Friday)
March 15th 8:30 – Noonish The fifth grade classes have been given an unexpected opportunity to witness the spring steelhead run (Lenz Creek), watch some steelhead being caught, and then see them released after being “fertilized”. We could use chaperones for this experience (with no notice . . . I am humbly asking) We will be outside the entire time. Please dress accordingly. The literature fair is Wednesday, March 13th from 6:00-7:00. Families and friends are invited. The complete student lit. fair packet can be found here or in the student resources section of this website. The grading criteria can be found here
