On Friday, May 17th the entire class along w/chaperones and Mr. C (our art teacher) climbed to the top of Spencer's Butte in Eugene. We started on the Willamette Street side of the Butte and hiked 1.1 miles to the 2,082ft. summit. We stayed on the top for just over an hour. Students ate lunch, checked out the view, had an up close look at some ground squirrels, and did a landscape drawing art lesson directed by Mr. C.
We walked down the Fox Hollow side of the Butte. After 2 miles of walking through some nice forest we connected with our bus, parked at the base of the Cascades Raptor Center. It was a great day!!
