Students are beginning their mammal reports this week. All reports are done during school time. This first week we are focusing on some marsupial mammals including: Echidna, platypus, Kangaroo, Koala, Wombat, Numbat, and the Yapok.

This is an informal opportunity to meet your child's teacher, see your child's classroom, find out about Creswell's family resources, and have some cookies and juice in the gym.
The new school year has started off with a bang. We had a couple of days of getting to know each other and learning the expectations. This year room 22 has 33 students. "Chuck" and Amy CHS seniors are both peer tutoring again. They will be in the classroom from 11-12 each day.
Homework was assigned and is due back the following Friday the 13th. Click here to download a copy. On Friday, May 17th the entire class along w/chaperones and Mr. C (our art teacher) climbed to the top of Spencer's Butte in Eugene. We started on the Willamette Street side of the Butte and hiked 1.1 miles to the 2,082ft. summit. We stayed on the top for just over an hour. Students ate lunch, checked out the view, had an up close look at some ground squirrels, and did a landscape drawing art lesson directed by Mr. C.
We walked down the Fox Hollow side of the Butte. After 2 miles of walking through some nice forest we connected with our bus, parked at the base of the Cascades Raptor Center. It was a great day!! Information and due dates related to room 22's autobiography reports is coming home today, 4/16. This is a big project and support from home is appreciated. Each child will create one chapter at a time until all twenty-four chapters are complete. Each chapter must be at least 3/4 of a page, single-spaced. In addition to the writing for each chapter students are encouraged to include artwork and or photographs to enhance their project. Grading will be based on;
1. Presentation and appearance of the book 2Writing(Grammar, Capitalization, Spelling, etc.) 3. Timeliness of assignments 4. Creativity 5. Photos and drawings 6. Autobiography instructions Autobiography Art Autobiography letter to friends "Bird Boy," aka Noah Strycker, author of two great bird related books, world traveler and Creswell native visited room 22 today, April 25th.
Noah showed pictures and videos and talked with the class about studying penguins and living in Antarctica for three months. His first book "Among Penguins," was published in 2011. He is currently working on another book about bird behavior. It is due out in 2014. During his visit he discussed hiking the Pacific Crest Trail from the border of Mexico and United States to the border of Canada and the United States.
