Classroom Visitor! Ms. Robertson
By Tiffany N.
On January 31st, Jacque Robertson, our school principal came into room 22 to share her life with us. Jacque grew up very poor. Her mother LaVae, her father Jack, and her brother Lonn lived in a box cart. For money to survive, they picked fruits and vegetables to sell. They also stripped a special kind of bark off a tree and sold it to people who made medicine out of it. Her first meal from a restaurant was in 6th grade! The restaurant was called Arctic Circle.
Jacque hated school up until high school. She was very good at singing and playing instruments. She went to the U of O and was a helper in head start. She became a teacher at Creslane in 1980. She taught until 1994. Then she was a vice principal. In 2000 she became head principal of Creslane.
Ms. Robertson has 1 son and many step kids. She had 2 husbands. She has 1 granddaughter named Madison. She is in kindergarten.
Sadly Ms. Robertson is retiring at the end if this year. She is retiring because she is tired of dealing with “scary problems." She is nervous to retire, because she has either been in or working at a school her entire life. Her favorite thing about teaching is the kids. “There’s always hope when kids are in school” she said.
She has lived in Creswell for 51 years altogether. It’s her favorite place she has lived.
Ms. Robertson likes to travel. She has been to Scotland, Africa, and a few more places. In her free-time she loves to read, play computer games, and play piano. Her favorite vegetable is lettuce, because there is so much you can do with it. Jacque’s favorite fruit is a peach, and her favorite ice cream is Mint Chocolate Chip. Jacque also likes fishing, crabbing, and mushroom hunting!
